Plunder finally arrives in Warzone 2 after 5 months
Attention all Call of Duty players, Plunder has finally made its way into Warzone 2 with this week’s Playlist update. Plunder was first introduced in the original Warzone back in March 2020, but it had not been seen in Warzone 2 until now, which was released alongside the first season update for Modern Warfare 2 in November 2022. This means that Plunder has existed for over five months without being in Warzone 2.
For those who are unfamiliar, in Plunder, the team that collects the most money within the time limit of the game wins, or the first team to collect 2 million dollars. “During Plunder, you can eliminate enemies, complete contracts, participate in events, and clear out strongholds and hideouts to earn money,” said Activision for Warzone 2 version of the game. “Operators can choose to keep their cash, deposit it somewhere on the map using a cash deposit helicopter landing zone, or acquire and use a cash deposit balloon for mobile transactions.”
There are several new events that can take place during a Plunder match as part of the mode in Warzone 2. Activision revealed the names of some of them, including Blood Money, Cannon Fodder, Contractor and Choke Hold. Upon launch, the mode will also have its own unique rewards that players can chase after.
It is unclear why it took so long for Plunder to be added to the Battle Royale sequel, but it is there – at least for now. It was a popular mode in the original game and provided an alternative to the standard Battle Royale and Resurgence. Unfortunately, players also do not know exactly how long it will last. Warzone 2, like MW2, often has playlists that come and go in the game, leading to confusion and frustration for players who like to play certain game types.
Plunder could become a staple playlist in the game, but there is always the possibility that it will rotate out for something else next week.
