World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Dragon Swarm, has been a breath of fresh air for the 19-year-old MMO. The story was captivating, the content was enjoyable, and Azeroth added a wealth of exciting features. However, recent data analysis suggests that things may be about to change. The Trading Post, which was introduced earlier this year, could soon become just another microtransaction shop. Although it was initially a free service, recent data mining has uncovered shop assets for various Trader’s Tender packages. If Blizzard adds microtransactions to the Trading Post, this fantastic feature will quickly lose its appeal and feel like an in-game store, making it seem unfair for players who already pay a monthly subscription fee. While it is unclear what these assets are for, Blizzard could use them to allow players to buy cash shop items with in-game currency. Until Blizzard makes an announcement, players will have to wait and see what happens.
